What the hell is Squeenus?
Long story short, it's the name of an inside joke amongst my friends. It's come to be short-hand for "fun, vivacious, spontaneous, gourmand, take big bites, have another drink, turn the stereo up, come here and kiss me" kind of living.
Plus, it's about the only short, memorable domain name that was left in the world. So I grabbed it.
Really though, Squeenus.com is a site where I can put the photographs I make. Which is ironic since what you're seeing is just the image and for me the image is just an in-between. The real goal is the print. Something you can hang/staple/thumbtack/stickytape to your wall and look at it and have it make your life a little bit richer. The image is just an idea. The print is the thing.
In practical terms, this whole thing is a big umbrella so I can explore a few various branching out points in photography and still have them all meet together at a nexus where I can compare and contrast and sift and sort. It was important to me to have a place to put my stuff (metaphorically speaking) and here it is.
As for me. Well, I'm Clint Weathers. I live and work and play (sometimes all at once) in South Minneapolis. By trade I'm a cube farmer in an office building and pretty much every other minute I'm either making, printing, looking at, or thinking about photographs and the making thereof. My apartment looks like a Foto-Mat exploded in it and I have more cameras than socks. I have an awesome wife who keeps both cameras and socks off the floor and stands there patiently while I geek about art and cameras and stuff like that. Anyway, that's neither here nor there. The important thing is the photographs.
Go look at some art. Get some perspective. See someone else's vision. Then go make some art from your perspective, with your vision.
